Dear figure skaters, coaches, and parents,
The Biellmann pose is one of the most impressive and technically demanding elements in figure skating, requiring outstanding flexibility in the back, shoulder joints, and legs. The ability to execute and confidently hold the Biellmann demonstrates an athlete's highest level of training, body control, and artistry. At the Alexander Ryabinin Figure Skating Academy, we deeply understand the significance of this element and have developed an effective online training program aimed at mastering and refining it. These lessons are accessible to you from anywhere in the world!
We know that intense on-ice training schedules, school commitments, and geographical barriers can limit opportunities for additional preparation. Our online classes offer a flexible and convenient solution, allowing you to work on your Biellmann under the guidance of experienced specialists.
By joining our online lessons, you'll receive a step-by-step methodology that will help you safely and effectively progress towards mastering the Biellmann pose. Let's look at the key exercises and stages of our program:
Shoulder Joint Warm-up: We start with a thorough warm-up and increased mobility for your shoulder joints. We use rotational movements with resistance, for example, using an elastic band, which helps prepare the joints for intense load and prevent injuries.
Preparatory Exercises at the Wall: "Bridge" and Backbends: Perform a "bridge" exercise, pressing your chest against the wall and lowering yourself onto your elbows. This allows you to gradually increase the backbend and open the chest area, preparing your body for deeper positions.
Using Blocks to Deepen Stretching: To further progress in stretching, especially when working on the bridge, gymnastic blocks are used. The exercise is performed with their help (e.g., under your hands or feet), allowing you to safely increase the range of the backbend with the support of a partner or coach.
Independent Bridge Execution: After working with assistance, we move on to performing backbend exercises independently, without external help. This solidifies the results and develops your own body control.
Complex of Three Preparatory Poses:
"Bridge" on your knees: Allows you to focus on back arching and shoulder opening while reducing leg strain.
"Bridge" on your knees and elbows: Increases the intensity of the backbend, continuing to work on back and chest flexibility.
"Snail pose": This exercise deeply stretches the spine, increasing its flexibility and mobility, which is extremely important for the Biellmann.
Assessing Leg Lift Height: The next step is to test and develop active leg lift. We teach you how to lift your leg as high as possible, which is a critically important component for gripping and holding the Biellmann.
Biellmann Pose with One Arm and Support: We begin to learn the Biellmann pose itself, using one arm for the grip and additional support. Special attention is paid to correctly gripping the leg and guiding it high behind your head. Support helps you focus on technique and feel the correct position.
Executing the Biellmann Pose Without Support: Finally, after successfully mastering the element with support, you can try to perform the Biellmann pose independently, demonstrating full body control and incredible flexibility.
Friends, remember: train while others rest! Consistency, diligence, and belief in your abilities are what distinguish a champion. At Ryabinin Camps, we provide all the necessary tools for your growth. Our online training isn't just lessons; it's your investment in precise technique, confidence, and a path to outstanding results on the ice.
