Dear figure skaters and parents!
In the world of figure skating, where every element demands refined technique, grace, and incredible flexibility, the split is one of the key elements demonstrating an athlete's mastery and plasticity. Our Ryabinin Camps team, with many years of experience in preparing world-class figure skaters, is delighted to offer you a unique opportunity to significantly improve your skills in mastering this element through our online classes.
We understand that it's not always possible to attend international camps, but this shouldn't stop you from your path to perfection. That's why we've developed specialized online training that allows you to train under the guidance of professionals from the comfort of your home.
As part of our online lessons, such as the featured video with Coach Evgenia, we pay special attention to a detailed breakdown and step-by-step mastery of each movement. Here's what awaits you on the path to a perfect split:
Warm-up for the under-knee part: This stage is critical for preparing muscles and tendons for the load. We'll teach you how to properly hug your thighs and slide your feet forward until your arms touch the floor, and then, removing your arms, gently press your knees down all the way, keeping your body firmly pressed to your legs. This ensures maximum effectiveness and safety.
Warm-up for the under-knee and front parts of the thigh: By shifting your weight while sitting on the front leg, we'll teach you how to properly transfer your pelvis from the front leg to the back leg. This exercise aims to increase the range of motion and improve muscle elasticity, preparing them for a deeper split.
Moving on to the front split: We will guide you step-by-step through the process, starting from a seated position on the front leg. You'll learn how to correctly slide your back foot backward, and it's extremely important to make sure your back leg remains "closed" – this prevents injuries and ensures proper stretching.
Improving the front split: To achieve maximum results, we use a supported exercise. Stand on your back leg and press your shin against the wall. Then slide your front leg forward until you sit into a full split. At this stage, it's especially important to control the position of your pelvis, constantly pushing it forward – this is the key to a deep and proper split.
Remember, friends: regularity is the key to success in any endeavor, especially in figure skating. Consistent and systematic training under our careful guidance will help you not only master the split but also significantly improve your overall physical fitness, coordination, and grace on the ice.
