Karina Sidarenko – Master of Sports (Ice Dance) & Coach (Austria)
Karina Sidarenko is a specialist at Ryabinin Camps with an elite background in Ice Dance. Living and coaching in Austria, she teaches athletes the hallmarks of the ice dance school: perfect blade control, deep edges, and exceptional musicality.
Her experience in Ice Dance allows Karina to see technique at a deeper level. She knows how to transform "running" on the ice into powerful, fluid gliding—the gold standard for judges in Component Scores (Skating Skills).
Ice Dance Technique for Singles
Karina adapts ice dance techniques for singles skaters, providing a significant competitive advantage.
Key Skills:
- Skating Skills: Developing "soft knees," ankle work, and the ability to generate speed effortlessly.
- Twizzles & Steps: Professional instruction on twizzles (Ice Dance style) and complex turns (rockers, counters, choctaws) to achieve Level 4 in step sequences.
- Transitions: Complex entries and exits for jumps that increase GOE.
Presentation & Artistry
Ice dancers are masters of interaction. Even as a singles skater, you are "dancing" with the audience and the judges.
On-Ice Choreography:
- Expressiveness: Using the body and arms to convey the character of the music.
- Lines: The aesthetic of extended toes and knees, typical of high-level ice dance.
- Rhythm: Developing musical timing to skate to the music, not just have it as background noise.
Status & Experience
As a Master of Sports and participant in international tournaments (including the ISU Junior Grand Prix), Karina understands the value of every detail. Her methodology combines European encouragement with the strict discipline of elite sports.
"In Ice Dance, there are no small details. I teach athletes to master their blades virtuously so that every movement looks polished and expensive." — Karina Sidarenko
